My Story
Turning my setbacks into my comebacks
My journey as a professional footballer was a real rollercoaster with plenty of setbacks along the way.
I can honestly say I loved every moment and will cherish the memories forever. This journey has taught me so much and made me the man I am today.
After achieving my dream of playing in the Premier League and testing myself against the best players in the world, I am now an online health coach, helping a wide variety of clients achieve their nutrition and fitness goals. I am also working with the LFE, travelling to EFL clubs all over the country, where I host workshops based around good nutrition and how to live a healthy lifestyle.
Recently, I have also hosted a number of keynote presentations for corporate companies, discussing my journey in football and why I am so passionate about good nutrition.

We still “live” and have the occasional drink/naughty food when we fancy it or doing something different with the family, but the key difference is the normal every day. Simple things have changed and we genuinely don’t miss what we used before…i.e butter/flour/dressings/sauces and sugary products.
Marc introduced us to so many other ways of having those tastes but in a far healthier way. Yes we have lost weight but the priority here is long term health, feeling energetic, feeling fitter and stronger, feeling far less tired or lethargic and with a clear focused brain.
Those are the gains, those are things that matter, not necessarily how you look or what you weigh but how you feel. The importance of food is not dieting, it is feeding your body and mind with amazing nutrients to help it work at greater levels and sustain it.
Marc’s attitude is second to none, if anyone wants to embark on a better future lifestyle we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Marc. Even after our chosen plan has ended, he is still there for us if we need him and for the odd cheeky chat!
From my initial consultation with Marc, I realised instantly he was the right coach for me. His knowledge of both nutrition and fitness was superior to anything I had experienced before. I had been skeptical of using an ‘online health coach’ mainly due to the sharp growth of the industry and competition it had created for coaches to stand out in order to gain clients.
The plan and additional nutrition advice Marc provided gave me all the tools I needed to achieve my goal. We would speak every few days and the app also enables you to track various things including weight loss, energy levels and provide feedback on the meals included within your plan.
Marc’s support throughout the entire plan was fantastic, I initially suffered a small injury which provided a small set back in training however my nutrition plan along with Marc’s continuing support meant we were still on track to achieve my goal.
After 12 weeks I couldn’t be any happier with my results and the level of service Marc provided. It is evident how invested Marc is in your journey and achieving your goal with you, his passion and knowledge of fitness and nutrition is exceptional. The whole process from start to finish, including the app feature and communication was slick and professional. Whatever your goal or journey I couldn’t recommend Marc enough.
The habits I developed whilst on my plan will remain part of my daily routine for the rest of my life, my energy levels haven’t ever been as good whilst balancing a busy career and high training load and achieving my target and goals.
With surgery looming for an ACL injury, Marc tailored a program of nutrition and training that helped me build the right strength in my legs and core.
The hard work and regular contact from Marc resulted with me being in the top ten percentage of patients recovery post surgery.
As the weeks went by I went strength to strength with Marc tailoring my training to suit my post-op needs and of course supplying great nutritious meals along the way.

It's been a pleasure from day one to work with Marc. I work hard everyday and the last thing I wanted to do was train. Signing up with Marc gave me that push I needed for change both mentally and physically. With tailored training and nutrition and of course daily inspiration from Marc I have found I have more energy.
I look forward to training after work and love the flexibility of meals he has set out for me based on my personal taste.
Around six months ago I had an allergy test done at my doctor and the results came back with a whole list of foods that I wasn't tolerant to. For example a gluten, dairy, yeast, chicken, eggs, almonds, oats and the list goes on. I was kind of at a crossroads as to what I was supposed to eat to keep me in shape for the season because I just couldn't eat what most of the other boys were eating in my club.
I was always struggling to find meals that were able to keep me up with my training regime. So that's when I started to think that I needed to get some proper help with my nutrition to keep me on track. That's when I came across Marc so I got in touch with Marc and he gave me a huge list of foods that I can eat besides what I was allergic to of what I can resort to eating. He gave me seven different options for all meals of the day: breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks. All fitted with my allergy requirements and they all had a macro breakdown as well and they're all calorie tailored for football.
I just felt like I'd never come across this kind of nutrition before this aspect of nutrition there's lots of ingredients that I hadn't seen before but were easily accessible actually that I found and my training just got better and better because of that I was able to work harder in the gym as well.
I plan to gain 5 kgs in four months through working with Marc and we hit that in three months actually. Marc gave me some workouts that were tailored made for football and so I just I just really feel that at the end of my journey with Marc I feel a better athlete I feel as if I'm a better goalkeeper. I'm able to train harder, I'm able to last longer in games without feeling fatigue and my nutrition is just through the roof.
I just feel so much more healthy and I'm no longer needing to resort to the foods I was allergic to because I just have so many options now with Marc. So yeah a huge thank you to Marc for helping me to stay in shape throughout the season and to not have me worrying about my food intake and then what that would do to me in training and everything. I can't recommend Marc highly enough!
I knew it was time for me to do something about it and get back into a proper routine. I couldn't ask for better support than the one powered by a Premier League footballer, right. If you know Marc Pugh, you know he's super approachable, attentive and an excellent motivator. Investing in his nutrition and fitness plan can actually save you lots of time and money.
Let me tell you why.
I considered replacing some of my meals with protein shakes and powders and had a chat with Marc about this. He could easily partner up with one of the popular brands and just recommend their products to me. Instead, he explained how to prepare naturally balanced food that loses weight and builds muscle the healthy way. Getting the basics right and knowing what you eat is so important and much more affordable. Also, all the passion and research he put into his work means that you don't have to spend hours educating yourself.
Some of the advice I received will stay with me forever, and I cannot recommend Marc enough. If you want to become a happier and healthier version of yourself, his programmes are definitely for you.
The goal was to lose body fat and I was able to lose 14 lbs in the first 8 weeks.
Marc put a plan together which meant I was fueled enough to play football 2/3 times a week with weights sessions on top of this but lose body fat at the same time.
I've worked with other coaches in the past but the key difference here is Marc's personal touch. The training and nutrition was tailored to fit in with my goals and also around my work & commitments. Marc is always on hand to offer advice whilst keeping me accountable with regular check ins
This has led to a total lifestyle change and a big positive impact on me personally, thank you Marc!
Marc's obviously a motivational person to me from his background and his commitment to himself as a professional athlete, but his encouragement has been extraordinary.
I have much more energy and recover much faster now. Before starting my plan, my first day off work was usually spent in bed, but now I’m fresh on my days off work and want to be more active.
I'm significantly less bloated around my waist and feel lighter without paying much attention to scales, and I’m stronger, that's for sure.
I knew what food I liked but didn't really know what the result of eating them would be. I felt good but knew I could feel better, and I really wanted to feel better. Marc has assisted with food being even more enjoyable - even buying the ingredients was a came chancer.
I enjoy cooking much more than I used to, and I have a much better connection with what my tastes are and what my body wants.
Marc has set achievable goals, which has led me to focus on my improvement to achieve more than what I initially set out to.

"My energy levels have improved massively as I'm eating the right amount of food, at the right times before and after training. This helps me prepare to go into training feeling my best. I've found the plan brilliant because it means not only are you practising your cooking skills, you're also not eating the same food over and over again. With Marc, we sat down and had consultations finding out about me, my likes and dislikes, everything felt natural and Marc makes you feel very at ease. I’m now at the end of my journey with Marc but my hard work starts now to keep going and progressing, I have lost 21 pounds, I’ve quit smoking, I now play football at least 3 times a week and have taken up Boxersize. My fitness and energy levels haven’t been this good for years and it’s all down to the support and help that Marc has provided me.

The gym & diet programs had great variety & Marc was always up to change things around based on how I was feeling. Since beginning the program of gym/diet, I have come leaps & bounds this season. No injuries, loads of energy not only on the park, but also at work & everyday life.

Jed had mentioned to me that Marc had visited the club to talk to the scholars about the importance of nutrition and I had looked at his website and started making a couple of his meals, which are great by the way ! Prawn and Scallop gnocchi a firm favourite in this household!
Jed wanted to reduce his body fat which was at 12% and this was at the end of season where really he should be at his lowest. We decided to seek advice and support and that's where Marc came to our rescue .. Marc spent some time getting to know as a family our food likes and dislikes and then tailored a plan to meet Jed's requirements but also " family friendly " which meant that I didn't have to cook different meals for everyone...which as a busy working Mum time is limited. The recipes were easy to make, inexpensive and tasty, we all enjoyed them,
Marc was so committed and supportive and always on the end of the phone for any questions we had, he would do weekly catch ups with Jed .. even when he was away on holiday !! The results speak for themselves and within 4 weeks Jed's body fat dropped from 12% to 9.4% His overall fitness has greatly improved too with the pre season testing The coaching and management staff had noticed this and Jed was offered the amazing opportunity to go to Austria with the 1st Team and train with them for a week, he has since trained with them for a few weeks and his confidence as grown so much because of this. I genuinely believe it starts with fuelling your body correctly and that you can never out train a bad diet !

Right away from speaking with Marc, it was clear that this was something I wanted to pursue over a longer period. Marc is very friendly and open and takes time for his clients. In addition to the healthy habits he introduced me to early on and to helping me with being and staying accountable to myself, he was always open to sharing what he learned during his career based on specific individual situations, from slight niggles and injuries to the mental side of preparing to push yourself that little bit further.
The biggest impact on my life has definitely come from the healthy habits and nutrition tips Marc shares. With a full-time job and doing a lot of sport outside work, it can be easy to get into the habit of simply making easy meals that don't really do a whole lot for your body, and not really thinking too much about the why behind the food, but I now have a series of recipes to fall back on that give my body what it needs and that don't really take extra time to prepare (in addition to tasting great). There are also a few small things I now do every day that help keep me feeling healthy and that consistency over time makes a big difference to my sporting performance.
After three months of working with Marc, I started taking part in more competitive runs and posted personal bests over 5k, 10k, 15k and in the half marathon between December 2023 and April 2024. Thanks to this work, my runs are much more consistent and I am looking forward to continuing to improve through consistent work and habits.
I would definitely recommend that people who are considering how they can improve their fitness levels and am certain that Marc can help people from every starting level.
