Ingredients

  • 375 grams organic self raising flour
  • 450 grams good quality natural yogurt
  • 1 pinch salt

Garlic Butter

  • 2 tbsp organic butter
  • 5 garlic cloves crushed

Optional garnishing

  • coriander

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine your organic self raising flour, natural yogurt and pinch of salt. Mix well, until combined. Then, use your hands to form a large ball of dough.
  • Lightly flour the kitchen surface and transfer the dough to the floured worktop. Kneed the dough for a couple of minutes before splitting into 6 equal parts (you could split into more if you prefer a smaller naan) Add a light dusting of flour if the dough is too sticky. Flatten out each naan with a rolling pin until evenly spread.
  • Heat a non-stick griddle or frying pan on a medium heat. When hot, place the flattened dough into the pan and cook for around 2-3 minutes until nicely charred.
  • In the meantime, melt the butter and crushed garlic cloves in the microwave for around 30 seconds, making sure to stir half way through.
  • Flip the naan bread and brush the garlic butter over the top using a basting brush. Allow to cook for a further 2 minutes.
  • Serve and top with fresh coriander.

Notes

Sometimes if I am in a rush and don’t have time to peel and crush fresh garlic, I use a teaspoon of minced garlic paste.
If you like a bit of spice in your life, I sometimes like to add chopped red chilli in with the garlic butter before basting the naan’s.
